A lot people are so afraid of dark, black colours. Some even fear dark coloured animal or birds that appear in dreams, meditations, or during healing sessions.

I would like to share the meaning of the Raven with you.

In Ancient teachings, the Raven stole the sun from a monster who wanted to keep the world in darkness. So Raven people have a duty to fight with their own demons or monsters in order to bring greater light into themselves. Once they are well on that path, they find themselves being asked to turn, time and again, to those who are in need of their assistance and have in fact at some level called out to the raven for support and protection.

Another simple way to explain this is a similar example in many energy courses I was teaching. “An angel sees an old man beside the river crying sadly. The angel asks him, why he is crying. He replies that his wife died, and his heart is broken into a million pieces. Having never experienced heartbreak, the angel hardly understands what it means. The angel asks Divine:

“What does it mean to have your heart broken into a million pieces?”
Divine replies, “It is difficult to explain it, only after you experience it can you know.”

“I want to understand; and I want to know the feeling; and I want to know how to help; and how to heal the hurt.”

“It is a very difficult course to learn.”

“My heart tells me I should. It is much harder to see someone’s heart broken, and not know how to help them to heal”.

So the angel carries this heavy duty and learns to face this hard lesson. Once the angel learns; they bring this greater light into themselves and heal others.

Raven Medicine

People (or angels) who carry the gift of raven medicine are usually an older soul. They must understand more at an intuitive level, and they know they came to Earth not for their own benefit, but for the greatest cause and highest plans. At some moment they may not fully know where they are being led, but they know they have a special destiny to fulfill. Sometimes this destiny fills them with a sense of loneliness—even sadness—as they know they walk alone, and they are very different from others.

People (or angels) who carry the gift of raven medicine are the gatekeepers to the void of Spirit where there is no form or structure, only fluidity and constant change. So when someone speaks of Raven gift, it is more easily understood through the intuitive senses and emotions.

Those who carry the raven gift often have powerful, life altering visions at key points in their lives, and carry a heavy responsibility to Spirit. Usually they are the greatest guides to those who are seeking a new direction for their lives.

Many of the people (or angels) who carry the gift of raven medicine believe in illusion and can travel through space and time in the blink of an eye to appear in any form that is appropriate to bring help and healing to others.

Many people (or angels) who carry the gift of raven’s medicine often feel very intensely what others are truly thinking and feeling. They are usually clairvoyant, and channel messages from Spirit to those who are willing to hear and follow through on what they are shown. This explains why those who carry the gift of Raven’s medicine often feel isolated and alone. They know at any moment Spirit may call upon them to leave everything behind in order to work for Divine. When they make friends, they are loyal for life as they understand the true value of friendship and want to honour and enjoy every moment they have with those they love.

The people (or angels) who carry the gift of raven medicine are here for you when you’re seeking a new direction in your life. When you are facing a new path it is often wise to ask them to show you the true and correct path for you. The path may not be easy, but they are here for you as a guardian and protector over all they survey to help set something right or bring it back into balance.

Those who carry gift of raven medicine have gateway eyes between this world and next—the place where all of our hopes and dreams live. They know how to carry us and show us the proper path to return, so we can manifest what we have found in the void. Moving into the void and returning to our reality also brings more awareness of how to deal with the shadows in ours and others lives.

The people (or angels) who carry the gift of raven medicine teach us how to look at what we are experiencing in a whole new way and thus adapt to what is while working towards to a positive future. They teach us how to defend and protect those whom we value and cherish. They have learned and focused on their mission in life. These healers know that Spirit created everything by setting an intention to do so; spoke, and with their word it was done. As a Divine channel, they know how to speak many languages in order to teach beings to create magic and understand the different levels of reality.

If a raven comes to you during meditation/ dream/or healing session:

It is most powerful. The raven assures you what you need is pending. He is a master of bending and folding time and space so that you are exactly in the right moment at the right time. As a messenger you are reminded that those around you are reflecting back at you the things you most have to learn about yourself.

Know that when the raven appears, magic is imminent. The raven is about rebirth, recovery, renewal recycling and certainly reflection and healing. He signifies moving through transitions smoothly by casting light into the darkness.

When the raven comes flying in your dream/meditation/ healing session; he is letting you know that a change of consciousness is imminent. This omen signals you to watch for the clues, and that new heights are possible.

When the raven is still and silent, looking at you, he is invoking magic.

If the raven is loudly raucously calling at you, he is insistent that you take heed – you are missing something important or have forgotten a lesson learned.

A raven flying loops and upside down playfully is telling you to fasten your seat belt because everything has gone into hyper drive. Absolute magic is afoot.

If you Have the Raven as Your Totem

If the raven is your totem animal, you are very playful and creative. You have no fear of the dark, or the underworld and understand that there is a divine balance between the light and the dark. You find comfort in solitude and enjoy your own company. The raven seeks stillness and quiet, and prefers it to the constant onslaught of chatter and noise in our daily lives. You are wise and are often used as a messenger for others. The spirit world uses you as a bridge to the physical world to bring forth its messages.

Occasionally the raven can signify an impending death. This is usually signalled by feeding on carrion or preening of its feathers to show rebirth.
