At this time the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve. We are dealing with a huge fear of illness and viruses. I would like to share some information to help prevent illness. I hope you and your loved ones are staying strong healthy and calm during these unprecedented times.
Yale University has found when the core body temperature inside the nose falls by 5°C, the immune system does not work as well to fight the cold virus. The body temperature becomes relatively low: if the body temperature drops by 1°C, the immunity decreases by 30%.
Mostly, the immune system prevents viral infections, but as the temperature drops, so does the body’s ability to fight off the intruder.
If the body temperature is increased by 1°C than normal, the immunity will instantly increase by 5 to 6 times. On the contrary, as soon as the body temperature drops, the activity of white blood cells will be retarded, resulting in a decrease in immunity.
Here I am talking about paying attention to our body temperatures influenced the immune response, rather than the virus itself.
White blood cells can be said to be the center of the immune system. Once the body temperature rises, it will make the sterilizing capabilities become active.
When we got bad cold or our physical occur with some sort of health issue, we often have symptom of fever. This is because the body’s immune army is in a state of struggle at this time, the body is warming up so that the immune function of white blood cells can be fully take over in charge to fight illness and gain back our health.
The temperature of people has changed in the last century … it is getting lower and lower. The average body temperature of Japanese people 50 years ago was 36.8°C, but now it has dropped to a maximum of 36.2°C to 36.3°C. The temperature of most people is only 35°C.
In other words, our body temperature has dropped by nearly 1°C compared to before, which means that immunity has also dropped by more than 30%.
In addition, it is generally believed that cancer cells are most likely to reproduce in an environment of 35°C, and once the body temperature is above 39.3°C, they will go through apoptosis.
Perhaps this can explain cancer patients why body temperature is mostly 35°C degrees.
Body temperature being too low can lead to all major illnesses
Once the temperature drops and the immunity is low, various diseases other than cancer can easily occur.
Pain, aches, and soreness
If the pain, ache, and soreness area feels hot, because the body is trying to warm it up so that blood can have better circulation to heal the pain area.
Cold, flu
The cold is “COLD”. As the literal meaning is, colds are caused by colds. When you get a cold /flu or bronchitis, you have a fever. This is to protect your body from the symptoms that have been lost.
Diarrhea, constipation, edema
Digestive system too cold will make the operation of the stomach and intestines dull and cause constipation/or diarrhea. It will also make the excretion of urine and sweat worse. As a result, water and excrement will accumulate in the body, which will easily cause the body to swell.
Mental illness
Mental illness patients who commit suicide due to depression/anxiety are mostly in cold regions, and depression is related to colds.
The major reasons for decreased immunity
When we move or exercise less in life, we have less muscle in the body. The colder and colder our body becomes, the lower our immune system becomes.
50 years ago, the average body temperature of a person was about 1°C higher than it is now. That time when cleaning the house, a long ladle, broom, and rag will be used to clean the house. When doing laundry, a washing board will be used, beat hard on clothes to removing the stain. Then, the clothes we hang outside in the sun one by one to dry them. We do work like this is to exercise the whole body.
In addition, the transportation was not very developed, it was very common to go a long way to buy something, to get water, to go to work, to attend classes.
But in today’s society, whether it is a household appliance such as a vacuum cleaner or a washing machine, it is very popular, so even if you don’t move your body, you can do many tasks with just a little finger. The remote control will do everything.
About 40% amount of the body’s temperature produced by muscle. Therefore, when we use less muscle it causes the temperature to drop.
It accounts for about 45% of men’s weight and about 36% of women’s weight. It can be said to be the largest proportion in humans. For example, a woman weighing 50 kg will have about 18 kg of muscle in her body.
Conversely, using muscles can increase body temperature. In general, when you exercise or work your muscles until your body starts to sweat slightly, the body temperature will rise by 1°C, that is, as soon as we start to sweat, our immunity will increase by 5-6 times.
Less muscle in the abdomen and legs
“Body heater”- 70% muscles are concentrated in the lower body
Therefore, less muscle in the abdomen and legs will lower the body temperature, which will directly lead to poor immunity.
“Aging starts with the legs”, which means that when a person reaches a certain age, the muscle mass concentrated in the lower body will decrease, and the immunity will also deteriorate.
Recently, more and more people do walk exercises or Tai Chi, which are very effective for improving immunity. Exercising the lower body can help build a healthy body.
Warm abdomen, healthier body and mind
Ancient Chinese medicine believes that the abdomen is the “center”, which means that the abdomen is located at the center of the body.
In Oriental medical care clinic, often I touch patient’s belly/ abdomen, I can know various conditions of the body, and one of them that has to be noticed is the cold of the abdomen.
“The center” is cold, then the whole body is cold. Even if the person who is often feel hot, but if feels cold in the abdomen, it can be regarded as “easy to be cold”.
Cold will reduce the body’s immunity, but the cold in the abdomen is the easiest way to greatly imbalance the immunity.
So it is well founded, because the intestinal tract contains approximately 70% of the body’s lymphoid tissue, including the immune organs of the lymph nodes, the intestinal tract can be said to be the center of human immunity.
Besides that, about 90% of the body’s serotonin is present in the intestine, which is a nerve-conducting substance. At present, there is a great relationship between serotonin deficiency and depression.
Because immune cells are concentrated around digestion system. Strong abdominal muscles(warm temperature) are very heavy responsibility. If the abdominal muscles are weak, the digestion tract will become cold and cold, it causes immunity and mental deterioration. On the contrary, the abdominal muscles are strong, and the abdomen will be warm, and the blood circulation in the digestion will be smooth, happy and energies.
